Choreographer and MacArthur Fellow Kyle Abraham and pioneering producer Jlin have come together to create a new commission exploring death, folklore, and reincarnation through a reimagining of Mozart’s Requiem in D minor.

While Abraham’s work is typically performed in proscenium, for FERUS he has reconceptualized an excerpt from an evening length work, exploring abstracted movement for the digital landscape. The duet features Keerati Jinakunwiphat and Jae Neal from A.I.M by Kyle Abraham, costumed by highly noted designer Giles Deacon with musical excerpts by producer Jlin. Choreography created in collaboration with A.I.M. dancers Keerati Jinakunwiphat and Jae Neal. A short live discussion with the artists, moderated by National Sawdust's Elena Park, will follow the screening.

Kyle Abraham (Choreography) Recently featured in O, The Oprah Magazine, Kinfolk and Vogue Italia, 2018 Princess Grace Statue Award recipient and Lincoln Center Education Artist in Residence, Kyle Abraham is a 2013 MacArthur Fellow and 2016 Doris Duke recipient who began his dance training at the Civic Light Opera Academy and the Creative and Performing Arts High School in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He continued his dance studies in New York, receiving a BFA from SUNY Purchase and an MFA from NYU Tisch School of the Arts, an honorary Doctorate in Fine Arts from Washington Jefferson College, and is currently serving as a visiting professor in residence at UCLA. Mr Abraham is the founding Artistic Director of A.I.M, an American contemporary dance company, created in honor of his history, experiences and artistic interests.
JLin (Music) is one of the most prominent female producers of the current generation. She grew up in Gary, Indiana, just 20 miles from downtown Chicago. Though previously using samples in her work, she now refuses to, and her tracks are composed of all original material.
Keerati Jinakunwiphat (Dancer), originally from Chicago, IL, received her BFA from the Conservatory of Dance at SUNY Purchase and was a recipient of the Adopt-A-Dancer Scholarship. She has additionally studied at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, San Francisco Conservatory of Dance, and Springboard Danse Montreal. She has worked with artists such as Nicole von Arx, Jasmine Ellis, Hannah Garner, Shannon Gillen, Kevin Wynn, and Doug Varone. As a freelance choreographer, Keerati has presented her own works at the American Dance Guild Festival, Dance Gallery Festival, and Battery Dance Festival and has been commissioned to set work on the Evanston Dance Ensemble, SUNY Purchase College, and the Martha Graham School. She premiered Big Rings, an A.I.M commissioned group work, at The Joyce Theater in October 2019. Keerati began working with A.I.M in 2016 as an associate artist and joined as a full time member in 2018.
Jae Neal (Dancer) was born and raised in Michigan and received their training from Western Michigan University. There, they performed in professional works such as Strict Love by Doug Varone, Temporal Trance by Frank Chavez and Harrison McEldowney’s Dance Sport. Since relocating to New York, Jae has had the privilege of working with SYREN Modern Dance, Christina Noel Reaves, Catapult Entertainment, Katherine Helen Fisher Dance, and Nathan Trice. Jae joined A.I.M in 2011.
Giles Deacon (Fashion Designer) is a fashion designer, high street enthusiast and an illustrator hailing from Darlington, Durham. Having studied at Central St Martins amongst the likes of Alexander McQueen, Hussein Chalayan and Katie Grand, Deacon is now a firm fashion favourite, with a clientele that includes Kate Moss, Angelina Jolie and Gwyneth Paltrow.
