About the Festival

The Winterreise Nights Festival, is a celebration of the timeless Schubertian work. The festival, which runs from December 6-10, will bring together themes from Schubert’s acclaimed song cycle with leitmotifs from National Sawdust’s Origins Season. The week of performances will be curated by Polaris Prize-winning singer and Björk protégé Tanya Tagaq and American cellist Jeffrey Zeigler.

Performances will include a night with Tanya Tagaq and Jeffery Zeigler; an evening curated by Tanya Tagaq featuring Apache violinist and film composer Laura Ortman; a performance of Paola Prestini’s score from the film We Breathe Again; and a new opera-theatre piece, Dear Edvard
