Prior to National Sawdust, Sophia worked at the Metropolitan Opera, first as an Executive Assistant to the General Manager, and later as the Major Gifts Coordinator on the Met Opera’s Development team. In 2016, she left the Met Opera to become the Executive Director of Strategy and Development for LoftOpera, a startup non-profit that produces fully-staged operas in large warehouses throughout Brooklyn. Sophia sits on the Board of Directors for Generation Ubuntu, a not-for-profit organization that works with HIV positive children in the South African township of Khayelitsha. Sophia holds a BA in English from Wesleyan University and lives with her husband in Brooklyn.
