Daniel Breen retired as a Managing Director of Citigroup Global Markets Inc. in the Equity and Capital Markets divisions in June of 2020. He had worked on structuring capital, debt, equity and tax efficient strategies for Citigroup’s institutional investors, corporate and private banking clients. Prior to joining Citigroup in the spring of 2002, he had worked for three years as a consultant to financial institutions and their clients on tax efficient investment strategies. He also provided financial, tax and estate planning services for individual clients.
Previously, he had served as Managing Director and Tax Counsel for Bankers Trust Company where his responsibilities included new product development and tax guidance for the Bank’s Private Client Services and Sales and Trading divisions. Other work experience includes acting as Special Assistant to the Associate Chief Counsel (Technical) for the Internal Revenue Service in Washington, DC and as a Tax Manager for Morgan Stanley & Company Incorporated and Arthur Young & Company.
He currently serves pro bono on the board and finance committee of Original Music Workshop, Inc. / dba National Sawdust, which is a non-profit performing arts organization and music venue in Williamsburg Brooklyn. He also works pro bono as a tax manager for Community Tax Aid Inc., a non-profit organization that provides free tax services for New York City’s low-income community.
He is a graduate of New York University and Syracuse University with degrees in tax law and accounting. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association and the AICPA.
