Cheng Jin Koh

Cheng Jin Koh (b.1996) is a Singaporean composer and Yang Qin (Chinese dulcimer) performer currently based in New York. Her music is eclectic and diverse in personality. Being a Chinese and Western trained musician, her works incorporate various influences from these worlds and reflect her passionate enthusiasm in unifying colorful music idioms. She has written for the Singapore Symphony Orchestra (SSO), Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO), Hong Kong Music For Our Young Foundation, T’ang Quartet, School of the Arts Singapore (SOTA) Chinese Music Ensemble, Juilliard’s Azure Quartet and other ensembles. She was a winner of the 2018 Boston New Music Initiative's 4th Annual Young Composer Competition, 2019 Juilliard Gena Raps Chamber Music Competition, 2019 Margaret Blackburn and John Eaton Memorial Competitions as well as an Honorable Mention in the 2018 Ensemble Ibis Composition Competition. Her music has been performed in Singapore, United States, Australia, United Kingdom and China. She is a Master’s student at The Juilliard School studying composition with Robert Beaser.
