Opening Night 2015: Eve Gigliotti, Gyan Riley, and Jeffrey Zeigler perform Paola Prestini’s Yoani Songs

Mezzo-soprano Eve Gigliotti, guitarist Gyan Riley, and cellist Jeffrey Zeigler performed an excerpt from Paola Prestini and Royce Vavrek’s Yoani Songs, a song cycle based on the life of Cuban blogger Yoani Sánchez, who gained notoriety as a sharp critic of her government, at our opening night in 2015. “Olivia” traces the wrenching journey of a trans woman struggling under Castro’s regime told through Yoani’s lens.
