The Revolution Vol. 31
With Eleni, Grxdnt, & Danielle Grubb
9:30pm doors • 10pm show
Much of the charm of a place like Brooklyn comes from discovering what secret events hide inside seemingly mundane brick buildings with colorful street art plastered on their walls. Wandering the streets of Brooklyn’s culturally booming neighborhoods you may ask yourself, “What exclusive functions could I attend if I were lucky enough to be in-the-know?” -Soundigest
THE REVOLUTION is a performance series highlighting Brooklyn & Harlem based artists + musicians that not only represent the core of independent pop culture but who currently stand in the breeding ground of evolution within their genre.
This local musical movement empowers community, change, and activism through performance and unity amongst the arts. Once a month, three different artists showcasing three different genres have a chance to spread love, light, and awareness through their music and their stories. This series supports revolutionary artistry and how important music is to healing, in all aspects of life.
As a part of VOL. 31, The Revolution will feature three incredible live performances from local artists:
Eleni Arapoglou, Grxdnt, & Danielle Grubb
Raised in Dallas, Texas, Danielle Grubb started performing at the age of 14. She began playing guitar in various metal bands before starting her first project, The Forest Fire.
After gaining traction in the local music scene, Danielle and The Forest Fire performed at various clubs in Deep Ellum and the Wildflower Festival in Plano. With her band, she shared the stage with groups such as Ivoryline, Mutemath, and Bowling for Soup.
She moved to New York at 18 to study Studio Production and Audio Engineering at SUNY Purchase College. During her education, she began recording, mixing, and producing her own albums. She released her first full length album, Conditions, and booked two national tours on the DIY circuit before graduating college.
Since then, she has been steadily releasing music, and held a residency at Arlene’s Grocery in the lower east side of Manhattan.
GRXDNT is a electronic music duo from New York City, composed of Angela Cook on lead vocals along side multi-instrumentalist Kevin Frias. The pair met in high-school through a singer-songwriter development class and began producing music long term after college. In August of 2017, they released their first EP entitled "Dark Matter" and have performed at a variety of venues all over New York and along the East Coast. They recently released their single "Voices" which is now available on all music platforms.
ELENI is a singer from Athens, Greece, currently based in Brooklyn, New York. She expresses herself through movement and dance as much as through singing. Joined by her ensemble of 10 artists; 6 musicians and four dancers, Eleni hopes to create an atmosphere of peace, release, passion and compassion. Influenced by music from different parts of the world such as south america, the mediterranean and the balkans, as well as by the freedom and colors of jazz, soul and hiphop today, her music is a river flowing through different "landscapes" she calls home. Accompanied by imagery and movement, her one-piece performance pays homage to community, courage and love, ending with no separation between stage and audience.
