About the Show
THE REVOLUTION is a performance series highlighting Brooklyn & Harlem based artists + musicians that not only represent the core of independent pop culture but who currently stand in the breeding ground of evolution within their genre.
This local musical movement empowers community, change, and activism through performance and unity amongst the arts. Once a month, three different artists showcasing three different genres have a chance to spread love, light, and awareness through their music and their stories. This series supports revolutionary artistry and how important music is to healing, in all aspects of life.
As a part of VOL. 17, The Revolution will feature three incredible live performances
from local artists:
Bridget Perez, beccs, and Cross Culture
Bridget Perez
Bridget Perez is one of the city’s rising stars hailing from Queens, N.Y. Native to the city that never sleeps she possesses the many skills a songstress with a bright future should have. Whether it’s writing catchy hooks, cooking up homemade beats with her piano or reciting some of the worlds most soulful melodies. Her first mostly self produced project titled Into the Sky was released December, 2012. July 2014, Into the Sky Epilogue followed. The album’s singles have been covered from media outlets such as TheSource.Com, Singersroom.com, and RollingOut.Com. Ever since then she has put out countless material and collaborated with artists such as Flatbush Zombies to Pro Era’s “A La $ole”. Even New York City’s DJ Enuff from HOT 97 tweeted a few of her singles. Her videos have been covered by sites in Japan, China, Amsterdam, France as well as Afropunk, DX Hip Hop, among others. Her latest effort, #Oldies, is available on apple music, tidal, spotify, amazon music and more.
beccs
beccs is a Brooklyn based musician from Boston. Hailed as The Deli Magazine’s Artist of the Month and one of NYLON Magazine’s new “favorite cool girls” with a “one-of-a-kind voice” who “screams originality” by the Huffington Post. Her richly dynamic music tackles recovery and women’s empowerment as she lures listeners into a dynamic shared experience of self-exploration and celebration.
beccs’ songwriting has been awarded by the International Songwriting Competition, John Lennon Songwriting Contest and a national social justice songwriting contest for her debut single “Scared Of Me”: a song that credits women who are inherent soldiers. beccs’ music video for her award-winning single “Therapy”, “a stellar visualization of battling one’s inner demons”, premiered on the front page of NYLON Magazine. Her debut EP ‘Unfound Beauty’ traces beccs’ relationship to herself, her recovery and her struggle to find her own unfound beauty.

Cross Culture
Cross Culture is a musical experience you have yet to experience. Literally. When people think of a band with two emcess, they rarely think of a married couple. Rarely do they see the rest of the members in the roles they serve in the band. Formed by emcee, Saidu Ezike in October 2014; the goal of Cross Culture is to break barriers through the fusion of musical genres. In addition, the goal is for people to Break Barriers in their own lives as we believe the Cross Culture experience is greater than music. Though it may be difficult to see from the surface, members of the band have performed/collaborated with the likes of Run DMC, Beyonce, and Black Sheep to name a few. Gearing up for the release of their debut album, Majesty in 2017, the sky’s the limit for this motivated group of individuals.
