When the writer JeanMichel Molkhou compiled his “Great Violinists of the 20th Century”, the inclusion of Austrian Benjamin Schmid was self evident. Perhaps one of the most versatile violinists today, Benjamin Schmid is known for his broad range of repertoire, plus his brilliant skills in jazz improvisation. Schmid grew up, and still lives in, Salzburg. He is featured as a soloist on over 50 albums and has received numerous awards such as the German Record Prize (several times for Classic and Jazz), the Echo Klassik Prize, the Gramophone Editor’s Choice and the Strad Selection.
Norwegian multi instrumentalist known for his work as frontman in the genre defying group Farmers Market. Carstensen plays everything from accordion and bagpipes to banjo, guitar and bulgarian flute. Carstensen is passionate about mixing genres, and is versatile in traditions as diverse as balkan folk music, rock and baroque. He’s also an amusing entertainer, sometimes making his audience laugh as well as listening.
