Classical Sundays is a National Sawdust curated series that handpicks the most innovative performers in the classical and new music scene. With renowned artists that perform composed works both storied and vitally new, Classical Sundays keeps tradition alive while incubating the voices of now and the future.
This is a special, remounted performance of Pulitzer Prize finalist and composer Kate Soper’s riveting opera Here Be Sirens. The remounted work builds upon the success of the original, which premiered in 2014 to widespread acclaim. Three sopranos and a prepared, lidless piano set the stage for a powerful retelling of the story. As the New York Times proclaimed of Here Be Sirens: “no one interested in pushing and smudging the boundaries of contemporary opera and theater should miss it.”
