About the Show
In its season finale, Contemporaneous joins forces with Face The Music, the nation’s only youth ensemble dedicated to performing music by living composers, to present a collaborative performance of new works by alumnae of LUNA Lab — the groundbreaking mentorship program for young women composers directed by Missy Mazzoli, Ellen Reid, and Reena Esmail, and within Face The Music. Contemporaneous will also offer the premiere of several songs from TREADING WATER, an in-progress song-cycle from Sarah Goldfeather on the ways we experience cognitive distortions, commissioned by Contemporaneous as part of Contemporaneous IMAGINATION.
This show unleashes the wildest dreams of the artists who are the faces of a more inclusive, more talented future.

About Contemporaneous IMAGINATION
Contemporaneous IMAGINATION (www.contemporaneous.org/imagination) is a new initiative which seeks to foster a culture of radical creative openness for composers and musical artists. Contemporaneous IMAGINATION is an open call which asks composers to share their wildest creative dreams, and then commissions, develops, produces, and presents the most meaningful of these works, with a commitment to select projects entirely based on their artistic merit and the effect they will have on the community, without regard for conventional restraints which often discourage the creation of work of such imagination and scale.
This collaborative presentation with Face The Music, LUNA Lab, and Sarah Goldfeather represents a major landmark in Contemporaneous’s continued pursuit to develop, produce, and share the most meaningful work of young musical artists.
