The NYU Sandbox Percussion Showcase is the culminating concert following a week of intensive chamber music study at the inaugural NYU Sandbox Percussion Seminar. The program includes some of the most prominent percussion works from the last century as well as a world premiere by composer Judah Adashi. The performance will feature Sandbox Percussion and Simon Boyar performing alongside an international group of students. Audience members will be treated to eclectic soundscapes forged by such composers as John Cage, Steve Reich, Mark Applebaum, Andy Akiho and others. These soundscapes will emerge from a wide range of percussion instruments including more traditional ones such as marimbas and vibraphones to more unorthodox instruments such as glass bottles, tin cans, tuned metal pipes and other household items.
