Armed with a warm and soulful sound, Moreno creates a unique lane of music that straddles both the English and Spanish speaking world and blazes an intoxicating invitation into her musical world.
Born and raised in Guatemala City, Gaby Moreno moved to Los Angeles to pursue her musical career. Her original blend of blues, folk and soul has earned her the respect and appreciation of audiences in Latin America, Europe, Australia and the U.S.
In 2013, she received a Latin Grammy for Best New Artist. Moreno also co-wrote the theme song for NBC’s hit television show “Parks and Recreation”. She has toured across the globe alongside artists like Tracy Chapman, Ani DiFranco, Van Dyke Parks, Hugh Laurie and The Copper Bottom Band, Punch Brothers and Calexico. She performed at David Byrne’s Meltdown Festival in London and Washington DC’s Kennedy Center, and has been part of the “Celebrating David Bowie” world tour featuring original members of Bowie’s band.
Gaby’s most recent and 5th album, “Ilusion”, was produced by Gabe Roth( aka Bosco Man) from Daptone Records and The Dap Kings camp. The album was nominated for a Grammy earlier this year. Most recently she’s been featured as Chris Thile’s duet partner in the radio show “Live From Here” (formerly “A Prairie Home Companion”) and is ready to release a new album in collaboration with Van Dyke Parks in early 2019.
