Any Norwegian classical ensemble with a minimum of self-assurance has to have some Grieg on its repertoire, in one form or another. That’s exactly why National Sawdust artist-in-residence 1B1 choose to do both one form AND another, teaming up with jazz-pianist-composer Erlend Skomsvoll for his reconstruction of Grieg’s famous Holberg Suite, inappropriately called «Holberg Recomprimprovariations”. To ease the classically inclined among us, and give some perspective to the 21h century Grieg, 1B1 will also perform the Holberg Suite in it’s original orchestration.
1B1’s and Erlend Skomsvoll’s Holberg Variations (Simax Classics) won them a Norwegian GRAMMY in 2015.
