In her colorful career in the arts and media, Elena Park has worked as producer, curator, writer, and communications executive. Her award-winning programs include HD shows for the Metropolitan Opera, beamed live to movie theaters in 70 countries, and WNYC Radio specials exploring seminal works of artists from Whitman to Wagner. She has produced events for New York City’s leading venues, from talks at uptown museums to concerts in downtown venues. National Sawdust+ will bring artists and thinkers together for surprising conversations and present concerts curated by visionary writers and directors.
Elena has been Supervising Producer of The Met: Live in HD series since its launch in 2006, and is Executive Producer of its radio broadcasts. While overseeing marketing and communications at the Met, she created public initiatives, press and marketing campaigns, and a new approach to branding and visual imagery. Her concert series, “The Met at Le Poisson Rouge,” featured artists such as Anna Netrebko, Simon Keenlyside, Thomas Adès, and Nico Muhly.
She helped to conceive a city-wide festival showcasing Cambodian culture at 34 leading NYC venues in Spring 2013. Previously, she was WNYC Radio’s Executive Producer of Music & Culture and Editor-in-Chief of andante.com, and managed PR efforts for BAM and San Francisco Opera. For the San Francisco Chronicle, she has interviewed artists ranging from Yoko Ono to Philip Glass, Robert Lepage to Clive Owen. Elena’s company, Lumahai Productions, worked on the HD transmission for Kanye West’s first Adidas YEEZY show in Winter 2015, the first time a fashion launch was shared live via satellite for a global audience. Elena serves as an Artistic Consultant for the Kennedy Center’s JFK Centennial events, an ambitious institution-wide programming initiative beginning in May 2016.
