David Clarke discovered a passion for promoting and writing about the performing arts as a freelance arts writer in Greater Houston while he was teaching social skills to adolescents grades 6-8 diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. This experience led him to actively pursue avenues that would allow him to work on both sides of the press table. He first moved to Greater New York City when he joined the public relations team at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in the summer of 2014. Prior to joining National Sawdust, David worked with DG+CO, a strategic communications firm that tackles complicated communications challenges for public interest clients, including progressive nonprofits, foundations, and government.
Away from National Sawdust, David is an active member of New York City’s premiere gay/inclusive rugby team, Gotham Knights Rugby Football Club. He also contributes to Logo TV’s NewNowNext, Out.com, Houston Ballet Magazine, Houstonia Magazine, BroadwayWorld.com, and others when time allows.
David holds a B.A. and a M.A. in English from Sam Houston State University.
