Programming Director

National Sawdust is seeking a dynamic, creative, collaborative self-starter with proven experience and a passion for music to lead a programming department of two programming associates for a new, ambitious non-profit organization devoted to supporting musicians and audiences with over 250 concerts per season. The Programming Director w orks with Artistic and Executive Director to program over 250 concerts a season. The person will posses a friendly and professional demeanor, be a self-initiator, highly collaborative, quick while having exquisite attention to detail, a team player, with a willingness to grow and create their own footprint in a thriving young organization and be sensitive to artists’ needs while maintaining budget constraints and reaching revenue goals. Tasks include creating, organizing and maintaining 6 figure programming budget, project manage National Sawdusts’ curator and residency programs, and produce special NS events (i.e opening night, festivals).

Experience
Creating and managing a 6 figure budget. 5-7 years experience in a commercial or non-commercial venue or music industry organization with producing experience.

Programming Associate

National Sawdust is seeking a dynamic, creative, collaborative self-starter with proven experience and a passion for music to work in a dynamic programming department at a new, ambitious non-profit organization devoted to supporting musicians and audiences. The Programming Associate w orks with Programming Director and Programming Associate/Artist Liaison Coordinator in a tight-knit, fast-paced environment in order to successfully execute 250 programs through contract organization, execution and direct artist communications while also clearly communicating with NS departments (marketing and communications, box office, tech/production, finance) on a show by show basis. The person will possess a friendly and professional demeanor, be a self-initiator, autonomous, quick while having exquisite attention to detail, a team player, with a willingness to grow and create their own footprint in a thriving young organization.

Experience
Managing a detailed booking calendar necessary. 1-3 years experience at a commercial or non-commercial venue or music industry organization. Production or producing background a plus.

Marketing Intern

Summary:
National Sawdust is seeking Undergraduate / Graduate students and recent graduates to join as a Marketing Intern. The NS Marketing department is responsible for the venue’s branding, communication, and promotions. The division oversees all print and digital promotions, advertising, content marketing, and grassroots marketing efforts.

This internship position is an excellent opportunity for candidates who are looking to gain hands-on experience in live performance and arts education marketing, as well as arts administration. Interns must be able to work independently and have a can-do attitude.

Responsibilities:
– Administration: maintaining database information, assisting in the management of print, online, and email production
– Research: performance topics, performance history, and competitive analysis
– Outreach: manage student rush program, manage marketing tabling opportunities
– Project Management: Assisting with managing marketing plans and developing strategic programs
Internship has the possibility to continue through the Fall semester.

Requirements:
– Familiarity with the NYC arts scene
– Experience with Adobe Premiere and Photoshop (one absolutely required)
– Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
– Experience with WordPress, MailChimp or other HTML and CSS experience
– Excellent verbal, written and organizational skills
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
– Reliable and self-motivated
– Interest in working in the Arts
– Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Graduate degree, recent graduates are also eligible to apply

Time Commitment:
20-25 hours per week
Sept 11 – Dec 15 (dates are negotiable)

Programming Internship

Summary:
National Sawdust is seeking Undergraduate / Graduate students and recent graduates to participate in its Fall Fellowship Program 2017. As a member of the Programming Department students will learn valuable skills integral to developing sustainable, mission-based programming. From booking to producing, Programming Interns play an important role in fostering shows from concept to execution.

Responsibilities:
– Work directly with Senior staff to ensure cohesive flow and communication
– Manage databases; includes weekly + monthly reports
– Research potential new Artists
– Maintain internal tracking documents
– Work directly with Artists to ensure the best performance experience

Requirements:
We are seeking individuals who are curious and excited by new forms of music. Candidates must be self-starters and detail-oriented. The ideal candidate will be outgoing, level-headed, and will work well in a fast-paced environment.

Time Commitment:
25 hours per week
Sept 11 – Dec 15 (dates are negotiable)

Compensation:
This internship is unpaid. Class credit can be arranged.
